Privacy Policy
1. Your data stays on your phone
Your shift calendar, shift types and times, rotations, alarm settings, pay rates, pay periods and notes are stored only on this phone (and in your own Google backup, if Android backup is turned on for your device). Nursora has no account and no sign-in, and we operate no servers that receive your schedule or pay data. Pay amounts are calculated on the device from the numbers you enter; they are estimates only and are never sent anywhere. Nursora does not use your location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos or files.
Shifts reach your phone's calendar only when you tap “Add to phone calendar” (or turn on automatic family-calendar updates in Pro). Nursora then writes events into the calendar you choose and only reads back the events it created itself, to update or remove them when you change a shift; it does not read your other calendar events. That calendar may then be synced by your phone's calendar app (for example Google Calendar or Samsung Calendar) under your own account — Nursora itself never contacts those services. Images, .ics files and backup files you export go only where you choose to share or save them.
2. Permissions
- Notifications (asked when you turn on your first shift alarm, Android 13 and later) — shift alarms, an optional reminder the evening before a shift and an optional payday note. The lock screen shows only the shift name and time, never pay amounts.
- Alarms & reminders (exact alarm) — lets the alarm you set before each shift ring on time, even when the phone is idle or locked. Alarms are scheduled only for shifts on your calendar.
- Full-screen alarm — shows the ringing shift alarm over the lock screen with large Dismiss and Snooze buttons. If Android does not allow it, a normal high-priority notification is used.
- Calendar (read and write) — asked only when you tap “Add to phone calendar”. Used to add, update and remove the shift events Nursora created in the calendar you pick. If you decline, sharing a picture of your month and exporting an .ics file still work.
- Run at startup, vibration and wake lock — restore your shift alarms after the phone restarts or the time zone changes, vibrate when an alarm rings, and keep the screen on briefly while it rings.
- Internet and network state — ads, analytics, purchases and the consent message. Your schedule, notes and pay data are never sent.
- Nursora does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera, photos or storage permissions.
3. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
With your consent where required, we use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. We log anonymous events such as “shift stamped”, “rotation saved”, “paycheck viewed” or “purchase completed”, with coarse buckets only (for example “2–7 days” or “biweekly”) — never dates, times, dollar amounts, workplace names or notes, plus device model, OS and app version, approximate region and an app-instance identifier. We never log your content; the app enforces this with an allow-list of event parameters. Crash reports contain the error type and stack trace only. Firebase Remote Config is used to tune paywall and ad settings.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob, Unity Ads and Meta Audience Network)
The free version shows ads: a slim banner on the Stats, Paycheck, Settings and Rotation screens, an occasional full-screen ad after you close Stats or Paycheck or save a rotation or pay profile, and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch to unlock a Pro tool for a while. Ads never appear on the month calendar while you stamp shifts, on the alarm screen, when you open the app from an alarm, notification or widget, during onboarding or on the paywall, and never in the first two minutes of first use. Nursora Pro removes all ads.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, with Unity Ads and Meta Audience Network competing through AdMob mediation. These partners may collect the advertising ID, device and usage information and approximate location derived from your IP address to serve and measure ads. They never receive your shifts, notes or pay data. See Google's, Unity's and Meta's privacy policies.
5. Your choices (GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, US state laws)
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Nursora asks for your consent through Google's consent message (IAB TCF) before personalised ads or analytics are used. If you decline, ads are non-personalised and analytics stays off. In US states with privacy laws (such as California, Virginia, Colorado), you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and targeted advertising. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
Legal bases (GDPR): consent for analytics and personalised ads; performance of a contract for the features you use and for purchases; legitimate interest for crash diagnostics where consent is not required. You may request access, deletion, correction or portability of data we control, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information for money; ad partners may receive identifiers as described above, which you can opt out of in Privacy choices. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their rights.
6. Purchases
Nursora Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase processed by Google Play; there is no subscription and no free trial. We never receive your payment details; Google tells the app whether Pro is active.
7. Retention and deletion
Your shifts, settings and pay data remain on your device (and in your own Google backup, if enabled) until you delete them or uninstall the app. Shift events you added to your phone calendar stay in that calendar until you remove them there or delete the shifts in Nursora. Analytics data is retained by Google for up to 14 months. See how to delete your data.
8. Children
Nursora is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Not payroll or legal advice
Pay figures are estimates of gross pay from the rates and rules you enter. Your hospital's or employer's payroll rules decide your actual pay. Nursora is not affiliated with any hospital or employer.
10. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
